先日、第63回神宮式年遷宮に向けた「第一次お木曳行事（川曳）」が行われました。
この日は夏らしい青空が広がり、五十鈴川には多くの奉曳団の皆さんが集まり、神宮へ奉納する御用材を曳く、伊勢ならではの美しい光景が広がっていました。
川の流れに沿って続く青い法被姿の列、響き渡る木遣り唄や掛け声。
約550年にわたり受け継がれてきた伝統行事は、多くの人の想いが一つになる瞬間でもあります。式年遷宮に関わる行事の中でも、市民や全国から集まった崇敬者が参加できる数少ない機会として、大切に受け継がれています。
伊勢神宮の式年遷宮は、20年に一度、社殿や御装束、神宝を新しくし、新たな社殿へ神様をお迎えする日本を代表する神事です。その準備として行われる「お木曳」は、伊勢のまち全体が遷宮を支える象徴的な行事でもあります。
第一次お木曳行事（川曳）は8月2日まで行われ、日によって異なる奉曳団が五十鈴川を遡ります。期間中に伊勢を訪れる方は、20年に一度しか見ることのできない貴重な光景に出会えるかもしれません。

Under beautiful blue skies, the Kawabiki (River Log Pulling Ceremony) for the 63rd Shikinen Sengu of Ise Jingu was recently held along the Isuzu River.
On this special day, hundreds of participants dressed in traditional blue happi coats entered the clear waters of the river to ceremonially pull sacred timber toward Ise Jingu. The sight of the long procession moving together through the river, accompanied by traditional chants, was truly unforgettable.
Shikinen Sengu is one of Japan’s most important Shinto traditions, held once every 20 years. During this ceremony, the shrine buildings are rebuilt, and the sacred deity is ceremonially transferred to the new sanctuary. The Kawabiki ceremony is an important part of this centuries-old tradition, symbolizing the community’s support and dedication to the rebuilding of the shrine.
The First Kawabiki Ceremony will continue until August 2, offering visitors a rare opportunity to witness a tradition that only takes place once every two decades.
